National Law University (NLU Delhi) Delhi’s Center Project39A has launched 2 online courses on forensics and mental health technology law and policy in association with Eleos Justice at Monash Law School, Australia .
The new courses Forensic Mental Health and Criminal Justice and Decoding Forensics for Legal Professionals will focus on understanding the uses and limitations of forensic science in criminal law and the relevance of mental disability in the criminal justice system.
Professor Srikrishna Deva Rao, Vice Chancellor, NLU Delhi said, “The focus of NLU Delhi since its inception has been to look beyond the standard legal study pattern and create new multi-disciplinary courses and encourage research in specialized areas still newborn”.
“This focus only strengthened with the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020, whose thrust is to transform cross-disciplinary research into higher education institutions (HEIs). This is reflected in the continuous work being done by our research centres,” he added.
Maitreyi Mishra, founding member of Project 39A, said, “In the course of our work, we have realized the barriers that were creating gaps in interdisciplinary learning for students and practitioners of law. Thus, the courses have been designed with the purpose of getting the different fields to speak to each other, rather than at each other in the courtroom.
We have forensic scientists and forensic psychiatrists talking to lawyers and the law, which enhances the learning experience but also has real-world consequences in terms of application to legal practice.
In addition, the Center for Communication Governance (CCG), NLU Delhi has also launched its first edition of the Technology Law and Policy Certificate Course which covers Information Technology and Cyber Laws, Emerging Technology, Privacy and Data Protection, Platform Governance, Cyber Security and Information Technology. touches upon important topics related to security, intellectual property and technology, and competition law and technology.
Daniel Mathew, Director, CCG, NLU Delhi said, “The course is designed to help students learn the legal, public policy and socio-political framework of cyberspace, and technology law and policy and their implications for our society. has gone. We aim to build the capacity of young professionals, students and stakeholders in the ecosystem around technology law and policy issues.
