NIRF Rankings 2024: The Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has announced the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024 for all the categories August 12, 2024. The NIRF ranking list will be available on the NIRF’s official website, nirfindia.org. The event announcement was held at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
Minister of State for Education Sukanto Majumdar and other dignitaries were also present in this program. While releasing the Rankings, the Minister said, “Without Rankings & Accreditation, Higher Education Institutions Cannot Survive in Democracy.”
NIRF rankings are published in 16 different categories. This year, three new categories have been introduced: State Universities, Skills Universities and Open Universities. The remaining categories include universities, colleges, research institutes, as well as fields such as engineering, management, pharmacy, medicine, dentistry, law, architecture and planning, agriculture and allied sectors and innovation.

In the overall category, IIT Madras has topped, IISc Bengaluru is at second place and IIT Bombay is at third place. Under management category, IIM Ahmedabad has again topped followed by IIM Bangalore in second place and IIM Kozhikode in the third spot.

In the engineering category, IIT Madras has once again secured the top position, followed by IIT Delhi at second position and IIT Bombay at third position. In the medical category, AIIMS Delhi is at the top position, while PGIMER, Chandigarh is at the second position and Christian Medical College, Vellore is at the third position.
A core committee created the methodology for ranking institutions established by MHRD to identify broad parameters for ranking various universities and institutions. The parameters on which institutions are ranked are teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practice, graduate outcomes, outreach and inclusivity, and perception.
