NIRF Ranking 2024: DU has secured the sixth position in the Nation Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) and has finally earned its place in the classification of top 10 universities in India. The Union Education Ministry Dharmendra Pradhan released the NIRF ranking on Monday, August 12.
In the overall ranking, DU has been ranked 15th best, an increase of seven positions from last year’s ranking. In 2018 itself, the university was ranked among the top 10 best universities in the country. Last year DU was at 11th position.
Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Singh attributed the association’s increased ranking to the immense cooperation between its faculty and team.
In a report, Singh highlighted that six universities of Delhi have secured a place in the top 10 rankings, of which three have secured a place in the top three.
Hindu College has emerged as the top college in the country, followed by nearby Miranda House and St. Stephen’s College, which have ranked the second and third positions respectively. Singh commented that he expected to achieve even more promising results in the coming year.
Besides, DU’s Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College stood fifth, while Kirori Mal College and Lady Shri Ram College for Women stood ninth and tenth respectively.
Notably, Miranda House had maintained its position as the best college for seven consecutive years before being overtaken by Hindu College this year. Meanwhile, St. Stephen’s College has shown improvement by reaching 14th position in the rankings compared to last year.
Delhi University’s Hindu College has ended Miranda House’s seven-year dominance in the NIRF college rankings, with its principals admitting that the competition serves as a “perfect rival” which forces them to continuously improve.
This year, DU has improved its ranking to fifth place, compared to its previous position, and has secured the sixth position among ‘university’ Rankings. Following are the top ten colleges of Delhi University as per NIRF ranking for 2024.
