National Testing Agency: In preparation for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET-UG) exam to be held on Sunday, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has identified Telegram channels and Instagram accounts that claim to provide access to the question paper, and informed the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) under the Home Ministry for further action.
According to NTA sources, the agency was working on inputs received through an online portal launched last weekend, asking users to report “suspicious claims” about the exam. The NTA has identified 106 Telegram channels and 16 Instagram accounts that are allegedly spreading misinformation and misleading students.
The NTA has asked Telegram and Instagram to immediately delete these channels and share the details of administrators of these channels with law enforcement agencies for investigation. So far, the National Testing Agency has received a total of 1,500 reports of suspicious activity through its online portal. According to NTA sources, most of these reports are of Telegram channels that are “spreading the fake paper leak story”.
The online portal on the NTA website, set up on April 26, aims to let users report suspicious activities under three categories
1. Unauthorised websites accounts claiming access to NEET-UG question papers,
2. Social media accounts claiming access to NEET-UG question papers,
3. Individuals claiming access to exam-related material and impersonators of NTA or government officials.
Students can report suspicious claims till 5 pm on May 4,2025 the day of the exam.
