JEE Main 2023 Updates: Bombay High Court to hear 75% Eligibility Criteria Today

JEE Main 2023 Updates: The Bombay High Court will hear on April 6 a petition seeking removal of the JEE Main 75 per cent eligibility criteria. Through this plea, the petitioner has requested the National Testing Agency (NTA) to remove the 75 per cent eligibility criteria for this attempt.

“The marks scored by them are not a true reflection of their actual potential, therefore students with marks lower than the eligibility criteria (75%) for this year’s examinations may score very high in the upcoming JEE Main 2023, and if There is a fair chance they have been denied which will affect the future of lakhs of bright students,” the PIL said.

Earlier, the petition had also requested for the postponement of the January session of Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main 2023. However, the court dismissed that plea and the hearing on the removal of 75 per cent eligibility criteria was fixed for April 6.

While the eligibility criteria were removed in the post-Covid years, in the 2023 JEE brochure, the IITs withdrew the eligibility criteria of 75 per cent marks in class 12 board exams for admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs. The brochure states that candidates must have secured at least 75 per cent marks in their class 12 board exam (for general category), or be within the category-wise top 20 percentile of successful candidates from their respective boards.

Another JEE Main 2023 Updates:

Another JEE case stuck in Delhi High Court plea for exemption of “two attempts in two consecutive years” for students who did not appear for JEE Advanced twice, or even once in 2021 and 2022 due to COVID. The Delhi High Court had earlier heard the petition and asked the respondents to file their response.

Candidates claimed that they faced technical issues and could not reach their exam centers on time due to last minute change in exam center due to which they could not appear in the exam.
