IIT Delhi Launches a New 2-Year Full-Time PG Program in Humanities: Check Eligibility and Other Details

Candidates applying for the MA program must hold a bachelor's degree from a recognized institution, with a minimum CGPA of 55 or its equivalent.

The Department of Humanities at IIT Delhi has introduced its latest academic offering, the Master of Arts (MA) program in Culture Society. This is a two-year, full-time program which will commence in July 2024. It aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of contemporary culture and society by integrating various disciplines such as sociology and philosophy.

Candidates applying for the MA program must hold a bachelor’s degree from a recognized institution, with a minimum CGPA of 55 or its equivalent. Specifically, Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree holders are required to secure a minimum of 55 marks, while applicants from other streams such as BTech, BSc, and BCom must achieve a first division.

Additionally, candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD categories are entitled to a 5% relaxation. Both three-year and four-year undergraduate program graduates are eligible to apply, with performance assessment encompassing all semesters or years of the qualifying degree.

The admission process for the MA program involves a written test followed by an interview. The department administers a written examination, and candidates also have the option to submit their GATE scores in any subject. Shortlisted applicants are then invited for an interview, where their analytical abilities, numerical and logical reasoning skills, and reading comprehension are evaluated. Students in their final year of studies are also able to submit applications.

The entrance exam is scheduled for May 18th, 2024, at IIT Delhi. Online interviews will be conducted on May 27th – 28th, 2024. Admissions will open in June, and classes are set to commence in July.

The introduction of IIT Delhi’s MA program in Culture Society highlights the institution’s commitment to interdisciplinary education and the cultivation of critical thinking. By offering students the opportunity to explore various disciplines such as sociology and philosophy, the program equips them with the necessary skills and knowledge to navigate the complexities of contemporary society while upholding the highest standards of academic integrity.
