Delhi Assembly Election Results: In a historic political turnaround, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to form the government in Delhi after 27 years, and will secure a two-thirds majority in the 2025 assembly elections. The BJP’s landslide victory has ended over a decade of rule by the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
The last BJP government in Delhi lasted from 1993 to 1998, marking a significant comeback for the party. Out of the 70 assembly constituencies, the BJP won 48 seats, while the AAP managed to secure only 22 seats. In this landslide victory, several prominent AAP leaders, including Kejriwal, former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia, former ministers Satyendar Jain and Saurabh Bharadwaj, lost their constituencies.
In a close contest, Arvind Kejriwal lost the New Delhi assembly seat to BJP’s Parvesh Verma by a margin of 4,089 votes.
