World No. 1 Batsman in T20Is: Abhishek Sharma has reached the pinnacle of T20Is batting and has become only the third Indian male player to hold the No. 1 spot in the ICC batsmen’s rankings. The 24-year-old left-hander has replaced Australia’s Travis Head from the position. His elevation is a significant moment in Indian limited-overs cricket, as he joins the ranks of Virat Kohli and Suryakumar Yadav, who previously held the same position.
Abhishek burst onto the international scene last year with a blazing T20I century against Zimbabwe, but his consistency since then has taken him to the top. Head, who had overtaken Suryakumar during the 2024 T20 World Cup, had retained the top spot for over a year but missed Australia’s recent series in the Caribbean. This opened the doors for Abhishek.
