17.64 Lakh Students Appeared in NEET UG Last Year for 96,077 MBBS Seats

The minister was replying to a question by Mukul Balakrishna Wasnik on the number of students appearing for NEET UG and number of undergraduate seats in the last three years.

MBBS Seats: Over 18 lakh students registered for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduate (NEET UG) last year, out of which 17.64 lakh appeared in exam, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Bharti Praveen Pawar said in a written reply in the Lok Sabha.

The minister was replying to a question by Mukul Balakrishna Wasnik on the number of students appearing for NEET UG and number of undergraduate seats in the last three years. The MP further asked whether the fact that the complexity in the admission process has led to several legal cases and “created a micro-industry of medical education consultants” and whether the government is working to reform the admission process to make it simple and transparent planning to, if so.

As per the minister’s reply, the number of students who appeared for NEET UG in the last three years as per the National Testing Agency (NTA) is given below:
