University of Southampton Opens its Campus in Delhi-NCR, Will Initially Offer Programmes in 5 Fields

The University of Southampton inaugurated its new campus in Gurugram, Delhi-NCR on Wednesday. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.

The university is the first international institution to establish a campus in India by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and is authorized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

The Delhi-NCR campus of the University of Southampton will initially provide undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs in business management, accounting and finance, computer science, economics, finance, and international management. The first group of approximately 150 students is set to enroll in August.

The university said in a press release that it plans to enroll 5,000 students every year by 2035.

Professor Andrew Atherton, Vice President for International and Engagement at the University of Southampton, stated that graduates from this campus will get the same qualifications as those awarded in the UK by the University of Southampton, which are highly regarded internationally and appreciated by both employers and academic institutions.

The university said the campus is located close to influential businesses and has facilities such as a student centre, library and IT labs. It further added that students will also benefit from associations with leading firms such as Deloitte India, Comviva and Investec, where internships and graduate placement schemes are already in place.
