IIT Bhilai Offers Financial aid in the Form of Scholarships to Both Undergraduate and Postgraduate Students.

The institute offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in several engineering disciplines and facilitates doctoral research in all departments and research centres.

Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai, (IIT Bhilai) is a premier institute for technical education and research in engineering. Indian Institute of Technology, Bhilai offers various scholarships for students pursuing undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The institute offers undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in several engineering disciplines and facilitates doctoral research in all departments and research centres.

Merit-cum-means scholarships are available for undergraduate students from UR and OBC categories, covering up to 25% of eligible students. Economically weaker students, whose family income is between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 5 lakh per annum, who get a two-third waiver on their education expenditure, are also eligible for reimbursement of one-third of the tuition fees per semester as well as pocket money of Rs 1,000 per month. For UR students, parental income should not exceed Rs 5 lakh, while for OBC students the limit is Rs 6 lakh. Additionally, students must maintain a minimum CGPA of 6.0 to continue receiving scholarship benefits.

IIT Bhilai SC/ST Scholarship:

Undergraduate students from SC and ST categories are eligible for free mess services and boarding (up to the accumulated limit) as well as pocket money of Rs 250 per month, provided their parents’ income does not exceed Rs 4.5 lakh per annum. To continue receiving these benefits, one must maintain a minimum CGPA of 6.0.

Free Scholarship:

Free scholarships are awarded to 10% of postgraduate students, with parental income limits of Rs 5 lakh per annum for UR students and Rs 6 lakh for OBC students. Economically backward students (income between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 5 lakh per annum) who receive a two-third tuition fee waiver are also eligible for one-third tuition fee reimbursement per semester. A minimum CGPA of 6.0 is required to maintain eligibility.

Fellowship for Postgraduate Students:

Non-sponsored MTech. students with a valid GATE score may be eligible for this fellowship for a period of up to 21 months. PhD students on Institute Fellowship are funded for 4 years, with a 1-year extension possible based on departmental recommendation.

However, fellowships are not awarded in semesters when students are not IIT Bhilai campus residents. Additionally, all Institute Fellowship recipients must contribute 8 hours per week to academic or administrative work beyond their research and coursework.
