This year a total of 535 students have joined IIM Bangalore’s Post Graduate Program in Management (PGP) and 72 have got admission in PGP in Business Analytics. This includes 40 percent female students, which is the highest in the last 18 years.
Professor Kunal Dasgupta, Chairman of Admissions and Financial Aid as well as a member of the Faculty of Economics at IIM-Bangalore, noted that out of the total PGP students admitted, 11 are international. This year, the number of female students has increased by more than 40 percent, the highest percentage in the last 18 years. The normal work background for PGP and PGPBA is 27 months and 20 months respectively. The average age of PGP and PGPBA is 26 and 24 years respectively.
He further said that a total of 73 per cent are from engineering background, 14 per cent from commerce and 6 per cent from arts and science background.
IIM Bangalore says the new batch of PhDs has 12 women participants, which is more than 50 per cent of the current batch. In addition, some students are from IIMB’s NSR Pre-Doc program and the Mahatma Gandhi National Fellowship (MGNF) programme; Some are from the start-up sector while some have worked in the defense sector.
