Gaur Gopal Das; Motivational Speaker on Overcoming Stress, From Electrical Engineer to Monk

Gaur Gopal Das: Prabhu Gaur Gopal Das is an Indian Hindu monk, a lifestyle mentor, a motivational speaker, and a former electrical engineer. He is a member with the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON). “Gaur Gopal Das” is also known as Gaur Gopal Prabhu or Prabhu Gaur Gopal Das.

Gaur Gopal Das was born in 1973 in Vambori town of Ahmednagar district, Maharashtra. He did his schooling from ST Jude High School Dehuroad, Pune, Maharashtra. He holds a Diploma in Electrical Engineering from Cusrow Wadia Institute of Technology, Pune and a Degree from College of Engineering Pune in 1995.

Gaur Gopal Das Academic Career:

He worked for some time as an electrical engineer at Hewlett Packard, leaving the company in 1996 to become a sadhu. After a few years, he quit his job and joined the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) as a sadhu, where he was given the name “Gaur Gopal Das”. He stayed there for twenty-two years, learned ancient philosophy and contemporary psychology, and became a life coach.

As a Motivational Speaker:

Guru Gaur Gopal Das has been delivering lectures at various corporations and educational institutions globally as a representative of ISKCON Chowpatty. His seminars concentrate on themes such as Happiness, Success, and Interpersonal Relationships.

Since then he has been delivering speeches at various academic institutions and corporate firms in India and abroad for over 2 decades and has even spoken at the United Nations and the British Parliament thrice.

At multinational professional services firm Ernst & Young in London, he had earlier delivered a speech titled “The Monk Who Bought a Ferrari”. Also, in 2016, he delivered lectures at several corporate entities including Infosys, Ford, Macintosh, Bank of America, Barclays and EY.

He has also delivered speeches at several charity events to raise funds for social initiatives in the field of education and rural development. In 2018, Prabhu Gaur Gopal Das wrote a book titled Life’s Amazing Secrets and received an honorary doctorate from the KIIT University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha. Book published by Penguin Random House.

Books Published:

In the year 2018 his first book Life’s Amazing Secrets: How to Find Balance and Purpose in Your Life was published by Penguin Random House India Private Limited.

The other recent writings of Gaur Gopal Das are “The Way of the Monk”: The Four Steps to Peace, Purpose and Lasting Happiness. And published by Penguin Random House on 6th February 2020. And Energize Your Mind: A Monk’s Guide to Mindful Living. Sourcebooks was written on 17th January 2023.

Awards and Recognitions:

Prabhu Gopal was also awarded the ‘Ideal Young Spiritual Guru Award’ by the Indian Student Parliament, MIT Pune for his remarkable contribution in providing spiritual guidance to the world at such a young age. Apart from this, he was also awarded an Honorary Doctorate (D. Litt) by KIIT University for his contribution towards the society. Lastly, he was also awarded the Most Stylish International Life Coach Award by LOKMAT.

His first book Life’s Amazing Secrets, which is an Indian national bestseller, sold a record 250,000 copies in just 6 months, and received the Crossword Book Award for being the most acclaimed book in the non fiction category for the year 2019. In February 2023, Gaur Gopal Das was awarded Asia’s prestigious “Golden Book Awards” for his publication, “Energize Your Mind: A Monk’s Guide to Mindful Living”.
