University of Petroleum and Energy Studies Dehradun (UPES Dehradun) was established in 2003 by the Uttarakhand State Legislature. The university is accredited within A grade by IACBE, NBA and NAAC, and approved by UGC, Bar of India and Pharmacy Council of India. As per the NIRF 2024 rankings, UPES is ranked 46th in India, 28th in Law, 41st in Management and 42nd in the Engineering category.

Based on the rank obtained in the UPESMET (UPES Dehradun MBA Entrance Exam) exam, candidates will get ranked and shortlisted for admission. Seats will be allotted to candidates based on the merit list. Candidates with top scores in the entrance exam will get the first preference. Counselling will have Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) rounds.
