Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) has started a new PG Diploma program on Digital Media from this academic year 2022. The course is being launched with 20 seats each at IIMC New Delhi and its regional centers at Jammu and Aizwal (Mizoram). The admission process for this course has already started through the official website of National Testing Agency Common University Entrance Test (NTA CUET) at cuet.nta.nic.in with four other courses.
Dean, Academics Govind Singh said, “The horizon of digital media is expanding day by day and there is a high demand for young and trained professionals in the industry. The primary objective of this course is to introduce students to new and emerging technologies and their application in the fields of journalism, public relations, advertising, corporate communication and development communication.
“Students will be given exposure to create media messages in a wide variety of forms using a variety of digital tools. A state of the art lab is being set up for this purpose. The upper age limit for the course is 25 years,” he said.
The PG Diploma Programme on Digital Media will cover topics namely Understanding New Media, New Media and Society, Internet as a Medium, Media and IT Laws, Online Research, Online Journalism, Social Media, Digital Marketing, Digital PR and Corporate Communication, Big Data, Data Journalism, New Media and Development, E-Governance, Fact-checking, Verification and Media Entrepreneurship.
The entrance examination for PG Diploma courses in Odia, Marathi, Malayalam and Urdu Journalism will however be held separately by Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) and the application forms for these will be issued shortly on the IIMC website iimc.gov.in, the institute said.
Eligibility Criteria:
Candidates who have a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university can apply for admissions in IIMC. Students who have appeared or are appearing for the final year/semester examination of their Bachelor’s Degree are also eligible to apply.
He further said that IIMC has also started PG Diploma in Hindi Journalism in Jammu and Amravati campuses with 20 seats each. Earlier it was being run from Delhi campus only.
