IIM Bangalore Admission Criteria: IIM Bangalore Revises Admission Policy

IIMs shortlist candidates on the basis of CAT score, Written Aptitude Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI).

IIM Bangalore Admission Criteria 2023; The Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM-B) has revised its admission policy for its flagship postgraduate program in which students are admitted through the Common Admission Test (CAT) score.

IIMs shortlist candidates on the basis of CAT score, Written Aptitude Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI).

Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore uses multiple parameters to assess a candidate’s suitability for PGP, such as academic performance in classes 10 and 12, graduate program and the candidate’s section-wise score in CAT. Relevant work experience, if any, is also given importance in selection. The Institute adopts a two-stage selection process and accordingly, these selection criteria are applied in two stages.

IIM Bangalore Admission Criteria; Change in Admission Policy

According to the new admission policy, now more weightage will be given to the Personal Interview (PI) round as the weightage has increased from 35 to 40 percent this year.

To do this, IIM Bangalore has reduced the weightage of marks obtained in classes 10 and 12 in the shortlisting stage from 15 to 10 per cent. Additionally, in the final phase, the weightage given to Class 10 and Class 12 marks has been reduced from 10 to 5 percent.

CAT 2023 Admit Card

As per the official schedule, the admit cards will be made available from October 25 (5 pm) and the exam will be conducted in three sessions on November 26. The result will probably be released in the second week of January 2024.

This year, IIMs witnessed a record number of CAT registrations. Exam coordinator Professor Sanjeet Singh said, “Around 3.3 lakh applicants have registered for CAT 2023, which is the highest in the history of CAT which started in 1977.” This is a big jump from 2.55 lakh candidates last year, while 2.31 lakh applied in 2021.
