Delhi University to Soon Launch Registration Portal for B.Tech Courses, Admission Through JEE Main Score

Delhi University has started three B.Tech programs from this academic year under the Faculty of Technology, admission to which will be done on the basis of marks obtained in the Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main).

Delhi University (DU) is likely to launch the registration portal for the newly introduced B.Tech programs by next week. DU’s Dean of Admissions Haneet Gandhi said during the admission webinar.

Delhi University has started three B.Tech programs from this academic year under the Faculty of Technology, admission to which will be done on the basis of marks obtained in the Joint Entrance Examination Main (JEE Main).

Apart from JEE Main score, students need to obtain at least 60 percentile or above in aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, they must also have passed English as a subject of study and from the same recognized board Must have completed 12th class.

A total of 360 seats are available i.e. 120 seats per course. The courses are- B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering, B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engineering and B.Tech in Electrical Engineering.

Haneet Gandhi clarified that the registration for this would be separate from the CSAS. It will have a separate registration portal which is likely to be launched next week and students will have to fill their preferences while applying. They will be allotted seats on the basis of their marks and will be given preference.

The university will also introduce a financial aid scheme for students from economically weaker sections. Students whose parent’s income is Rs 4 lakh or less will get 90 per cent fee waiver at the time of admission and students whose parent’s income is between Rs 4 lakh to Rs 8 lakh will get 50 per cent fee waiver.

One seat in each of the three programs will be offered as an additional seat for a single girl child. 5 percent of the total sanctioned seats will be allotted for extra-curricular activities and sports supernumerary quota. Students can also get reimbursement of up to Rs 50,000 on the purchase of laptops.

Keeping in mind the National Education Policy 2020, students will have multiple exit options. Students who complete one year of study with the requisite credits will be awarded a certificate, those who complete two years will receive a Diploma, and those who complete three years of study will receive an Advanced Diploma and those who complete all four years He will be awarded with a B.Tech degree.
