IIT Delhi students got a record number of offers till 15th December of the placement season 2021. They got more than 1250 offers, which is the highest ever.
While the volume of offers and hence the number of unique selections is at a record high, the number of offers received by the campus has increased by over 45% during this period as compared to the previous year. Even the PPOs achieved this year were the highest in the last five years.
There has also been an increase in the quality of jobs offered in terms of compensation offered. This year the average compensation paid on campus as recruiters indicated has increased by more than 20%.
Around 80% students who have shown interest in availing placement facilities in this phase have been recruited so far with selection on more than 350 job profiles from more than 200 companies.
So far around 180 PPOs have been received and seven students have opted for the deferred placement facility of the institute. The facility of deferred placement is available for the students who want to set up a start-up after graduation.
Students opting for deferred placement option can avail one time placement services after availing this option i.e. within two years till 2023-24.
The top five recruiters on campus in terms of number of offers include EXL Analytics, Graviton Research Capital LLP, HCL Technologies, Jaguar Land Rover India Limited, Microsoft. Microsoft made the most offers on campus (about 60), while Rakuten Mobile, Japan made the most international offers.
Forty international offers were received by students in geographic regions spanning Hong Kong, Japan, the Middle East, the Netherlands, South Korea, Taiwan and the US.
It also includes nine international pre-placement offers. Last year (2020-21), students received 22 international offers (including 6 PPOs at international locations). More than 400 organizations in sectors offering 800+ job profiles have so far registered to hire students. Many companies will schedule in the coming days.
The placement season runs till the end of May. The first phase will conclude at the end of December while the second phase will be conducted from January to May. Students are allowed to re-appear for placements in the second phase.

- Core: 30%
- Consulting: 14%
- Analytics: 9%
- Finance: 4%
Most students have opted for jobs in their technical core. IT and Analytics are core to some departments like Computer Science, Mathematics and Computing etc.
Companies registering under the ‘Finance’ track are recruiting for Fintech roles and companies registering under ‘Other’ sector also comprise many ‘Core’ sector companies.
